Superfractor Census and Public Sighting Methodology

This methodology defines how Super1of1 builds its public census of true Topps and Bowman baseball Superfractor 1/1 cards from 2024 onward. Official product sources define expected checklist identities. Accepted public sightings show which cards have appeared publicly, including qualifying listings received through official marketplace APIs.

The record model

1. Eligibility and release classification

Only manufacturer-issued Topps and Bowman baseball cards whose official product sources explicitly support both the Superfractor parallel and a 1/1 print run qualify. Other one-of-one cards, printing plates, customs, proxies, reprints, unrelated parallels, and seller-created labels remain outside the census. 2. Complete-set publication gate

Editors review releases from the official Topps checklist library and applicable official product odds or documentation. A release remains private until all of these checks pass:

• Release year, manufacturer, brand, product, sport, edition, and stable set identity are complete.
• The official checklist and odds sources have review URLs, input hashes, reviewer identity, review time, and notes.
• Every included card family is explicitly eligible for a Superfractor with a 1/1 print run.
• Every expected card has a complete identity: set or subset, card number, subject, and identity-changing attributes.
• Stable identity keys and public slugs are unique; ambiguous subsets and duplicate identities are unresolved before publication.
• The imported card count equals the reviewed expected count.

Passing cards do not leak out one at a time. The complete reviewed set becomes public atomically so collectors do not mistake a partial import for a complete Superfractor checklist. An officially documented but non-enumerated variation can therefore block the whole release until its exact identities are supported.

3. What counts as seen publicly

A fresh qualifying eBay listing received through the official API counts as a public sighting by default. So does a collector submission accepted through moderation. An exact canonical match requires agreement on the release, subset, card number, subject, and meaningful attributes. Missing identity fields make a listing provisional. Customs, reprints, proxies, digital items, and named non-Superfractor parallels are rejected at any price. Identity conflicts on listings under $1,000 publish as provisional records with visible caution flags; conflicts on higher-value or unpriced listings are held for review before publication. Price never makes a listing more trustworthy it only determines how much scrutiny a conflict receives before it is shown.

4. Marketplace lifecycle

Marketplace sightings remain valid historical facts after a listing ends, but provider-controlled listing content does not remain public indefinitely. Current titles, images, prices, seller details, and direct URLs are shown only while the official API data is fresh and the listing is available. When those details expire or the listing goes offline, Super1of1 suppresses or scrubs them while retaining normalized card facts, the observed time, and the sighting decision.

5. Public trust labels

Checklist verified identifies a reviewed canonical identity. Public marketplace sighting identifies a qualifying official-API listing. Provisional observed card means a listing was accepted but cannot yet be matched to one exact canonical identity. Moderator-confirmed match records human review. Disputed, rejected, and withdrawn preserve caution and decision history.

6. Revisions, corrections, and withdrawals

Material identity changes, publication decisions, sighting decisions, moderation, and legacy-slug conflicts retain an audit record. A correction changes the current public result without rewriting the fact that an earlier decision occurred. Accuracy, duplicate identity, rights, privacy, or legal concerns can withdraw a sighting while preserving the decision history. Use the correction tools on the affected record or the contact page.

7. Source, rights, and privacy boundaries

Super1of1 uses official marketplace APIs rather than scraping marketplaces or social platforms. It stores normalized factual identity fields, review notes, source links, and input hashes without republishing manufacturer checklists or using Topps card images as census content. Submitted material requires rights or another lawful basis. Private owner identity, private contact details, and private notes are not displayed publicly; any public ownership display requires explicit consent.

Limits of the census

The census is a public research record, not an authenticity guarantee, ownership registry, price guide, or claim to know every private pull. A listing is evidence that a card was publicly offered, not proof of authenticity, ownership, a completed sale, or value. Official documentation and listing identity data can be incomplete or contradictory; those cases stay provisional or enter review instead of being silently forced into a canonical identity.
